This is an East German book from 1983. The book was not for sale in the DDR but was only given as a present from the state to 14 year old youths on the event of their Jugendweihe (the communist version of the Christian Confirmation Ceremony. The book comes with its original dust jacket and contains a large number of illustrations and photographs. The aim of the book is to provide an overview of life and what life is all about within a socialist context. I received a copy of this book at my Jugendweihe in 1983. The book is hard back and measures 11 3/4" x 8 1/4". Unpacked weigh of the book is 1kg.
